A little bit about me…
Dance has been the constant in my life even when everything else seemed to be ever-changing.
I put on pink ballet slippers and patent leather tap shoes for the first time at age four in Greenville, South Carolina. My first dance studio, Dancers Corner, became my second home and over the course of 14 years instilled in me the confidence, training, work ethic, and vigor that I needed to chase my dreams. At age 14, I was accepted into The Fine Arts Center, a fine arts high school that gave students the opportunity to synchronously study art and academics. Thanks to my extensive hours spent in both a concert dance program and competitive dance studio, I realized the importance of well-roundedness and versatility at a young age. In addition to dance, I explored my love for art and theater, dipping my toes in many different pools and participating in community theater.
In my senior year of high school, I had the incredible opportunity of traveling the country dancing for DanceMakers Inc. as a member of their selective mentorship program— The Collective. I had the privilege of assisting, training, and performing with forces in our industry including Kathryn McCormick, Kyle Robinson, Robert Roldan, and Dejan Tubic. The experience opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that the dance world holds. I fell deeper in love with movement, music, self-exploration, and the art form at its core. Thanks to the support of my family and scholarships awarded for talent and academics, I was able to continue my dance journey at Marymount Manhattan College, pursuing a BFA in dance with a concentration in jazz. In conjunction with my dance training, I chose to take the necessary coursework to one day earn a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, something I am also passionate about achieving in the future. Working closely with Mary Ann Lamb, Andrea Miller/Gallim Dance, Sheila Barker & Anthony Morigerato have been highlights of my time Marymount, just to name a few. Almost one year post-grad, I am looking back on my experience with great gratitude, pride, and humility.
I currently reside in Manhattan, working and dancing at Steps on Broadway and teaching dance and yoga. It is a true gift and privilege to be both working and training in the epicenter of New York’s professional dance community. In my spare time, I am trying new dance styles, exploring other avenues of visual art, and polishing my voice & acting skills. Most recently, I completed my 200-hr yoga teacher training through Yoga Renew and have found a deep passion and grounding in the teachings of yoga. I am currently auditioning and enjoying cultivating the dance career of my dreams. My love for for movement and dance has only continued to grow, and I believe that my resilience, passion, and curiosity will prepare me for whatever is next to come.
